Maw Goon Thit Learning Center is a dynamic educational institution dedicated to providing holistic learning experiences for students from KG to Grade 12, including GED preparation. As we gear up for the 2026–2027 academic year starting in May 2026, we are excited to expand our team with passionate educators who share our vision of fostering academic excellence, life skills, and community impact.

Available Positions

English Program Teachers (2 Positions)

  • Focus: Cambridge English curriculum for KG–G12, reading programs, and placement-based grouping.
  • Responsibilities: Deliver engaging English lessons, conduct assessments, lead weekly presentations, and support life skills integration.
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM, with professional development sessions.

GED Preparation Teachers (2 Positions)

  • Focus: GED core subjects (Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts) for upper secondary students.
  • Responsibilities: Provide diagnostic testing, intensive practice sessions, mock exams, and career guidance.
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM, including remedial and intensive classes.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Education, English, or relevant field (Master's preferred for GED roles).
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years teaching experience; Cambridge English certification or GED tutoring background is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong communication, classroom management, and digital literacy (e.g., using student management systems).
  • Personal Qualities: Passionate about student-centered learning, adaptable, and committed to child protection and inclusive education.
  • Language: Fluent in English; Burmese/Thai proficiency advantageous.
  • Other: Willing to undergo background checks and participate in monthly professional development.

Our Story Maw Goon Thit Migrant Learning Center Maw Goon Thit Migrant Learning Center began in 2021 with a simple but powerful belief — every child deserves access to quality education, regardless of background or circumstance. In Mae Sot, on the Thai-Myanmar border, many migrant children from Burma face significant barriers to formal schooling. Some are unable to enroll in public schools due to documentation or status issues. Others must help their families by working. Language barriers, financial hardship, and displacement add to the challenges. Witnessing this daily reality, we knew we had to act. What began as a modest community learning space has grown steadily into a dedicated learning center. Today, we proudly serve students from Kindergarten all the way to Grade 12. The Friend’s Story Project – Week 2 ✏️ This week, our students learned how to write a story and how to review their photos. We used a projector to display their friendship photos and discussed the story behind each picture together. By looking at the photos, students thought about: 👉 What is happening? 👉 Who is in the photo? 👉 How does it show friendship? They then started writing simple stories in English based on their own photos. This activity helps develop: 📸 Creativity 🧠 Critical thinking 🤝 Teamwork 🗣️ Confidence During this one-month project, students will create their own Friendship Photo Stories and present them at the final exhibition. 🙏 Special thanks to Mr. Watanabe for generously supporting us with iPhones. Current Emergency Needs: Rent for Land: Our school is in a dire situation, facing the imminent need to secure the land we operate on. We urgently require 35,000 THB to ensure a stable learning environment for our students. Administration Cost: A vital aspect of maintaining our operations, the administration cost of 15,000 THB is crucial for the smooth functioning of the school.
